On May 24, 2021, Chaozhou issued “Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Chaozhou Food Industry to Promote the Application for City of Gastronomy”. Nearly 40 detailed measures were outlined across nine objectives: creating a collaborative industrial development mechanism, strengthening the catering industry, exploring more local and rural ingredients, promoting delicacy-driven tourism, creating new dishes, attracting capital, supporting the development of food chains, supporting cook training and enhancing supervision and services. The measures helped industrialize the Chaozhou food industry.
