Chaozhou Cuisine: Dynamic Cuisine 2023 Kicks Off

On August 25, Chaozhou Cuisine: Dynamic Cuisine 2023 series activities kicked off on Paifang Street in Chaozhou’s Old Town. Various cooking training programs and contests bring together experts, budding chefs and rural cooks for interaction. The activities are Chaozhou’s responses to the province’s Chef Training Program for Cantonese Cuisine. They also support the city's bid to become a UNESCO City of Gastronomy.

  The events have many more highlights. The Cooperation Framework Agreement for the Master-developed Ready-to-eat Chaozhou Meals Program was signed at a ceremony. The cookbook of “Chaozhou Cuisine: Cooking and Nutrition” was published. The book offers recipes for 72 famous local dishes. Additionally, 11 three-star masters of Cantonese Cuisine for 2022 were recognized. The Golden Banquet winners of the 31st China Chefs Festival's Chaozhou Banquet Show were awarded commemorative plaques.

There are four major events: a Chaozhou cuisine master cultivation program, the Chaozhou Young Chef Competition of Cantonese Cuisine Master 2023 (qualifiers for the 6th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cantonese Cuisine Master Skills Competition), a Chaozhou cuisine chef training program and the Rural Chef Vocational Skills Competition of Cantonese Cuisine Master 2023. Master chefs, culinary practitioners and cooking trainers and trainees from vocational schools will all participate to exchange ideas and develop the cooking art of Chaozhou delicacies.
