On September 20th, the 2nd International Chaozhou Cuisine Cooking Competition and Chaozhou Food Culture Week opened in Chaozhou. Outstanding figures of the catering industry, gourmets, renowned and emerging chefs and representatives from leading food companies at home and abroad gathered in Chaozhou. The common interest in Chaozhou cuisine drew them together. The event was held to preserve and develop local cooking techniques, as well as promote Chinese culinary art and Chaozhou gastronomy. The opening ceremony was attended by He Xiaojun, Secretary of the CPC Chaozhou Municipal Committee, Cai Dongshi, Secretary of the Guangdong Teochow Overseas Friendship Union, Chen Younan, Executive Chairman of the Teochew International Federation, and Han Ming, Senior President of the China Hotel Association. They jointly kicked off the event.
The China Hotel Association, the Chaozhou Municipal People’s Government and the Teochew International Federation co-hosted the two-day event with the theme of “Chaozhou Cuisine, of the World, for the World.” The event involved an international Chaozhou cuisine cooking competition, a Chaozhou cuisine tasting session, assessment and approval for Chaozhou-style ready-to-eat food, exhibitions of Chaozhou specialties, ingredients and kitchenware products, as well as an online Chaozhou food and culture festival. Visitors could learn more about Chaozhou cuisine and culture at this enjoyable event.
