On December 11, the 2nd PITO Seminar on Ceramics and Cuisine was held by Guangdong PITO Technology Co., Ltd. Master chefs, experts and scholars of Chaozhou cuisine attended the event, discussing how to integrate local specialties with fine ceramics and build the city of Chaozhou as a global destination for gourmets.
“Chefs of Chaozhou cuisine become more conscious of matching delicacies with the right ceramic crockery. In my opinion, different serving utensils should be designed for different food. A savory dish can be enhanced visually with customized tableware.” “Holding a special place in the hearts of Chaozhou natives worldwide, the 12-course Meal evokes memories of the place where they grew up and a sense of nostalgia. The flavor of one’s hometown lingers forever. To ensure that the flavor continues to be passed down rightly, we need to establish standards for Chaozhou dishes.” “More competent young chefs should be cultivated to inherit the traditional tastes and create new ones.” During the seminar, culinary experts and chefs shared insights on complementing Chaozhou dishes with exquisite ceramics to develop and innovate the local catering industry.
“Good ingredients should be paired with skillful cooking techniques and exquisite tableware. Serving food in beautifully-designed ceramics contributes to a unique culinary culture.” Xu Ruisheng, PITO’s General Manager, believed that the Chaozhou 12-course Meal would be promoted to a broader market much faster if complemented with tailor-made ceramics. From his viewpoint, a specific presentation of delicacies reflected typical local culture. He also suggested that QR codes directing scanners to Chaozhou cuisine recipes could be added at the bottom of the ceramics, which would be useful for preparing Chaozhou-style food and promote the local cooking methods.
