On June 17th, 2019, Chaozhou Municipal Opera Troupe returned with honor from its sixth invitation to Singapore for the 55th Anniversary Celebration of Teo Ann Huay Kuan (Singapore). During its first visit in 2017, the Troupe packed the Kallang Theater in every performance and got broad appreciation.
Established in March, 1964, the townsmen club is rather influential among Chinese migrants in Singapore. It has continued to contact and unite overseas Chaozhou natives and engage them in charity and society's well-being, contributing a lot to the local communities and the hometown.
In the 13-day visit, the Troupe performed a series of shows, including Story of the An Family, Romance of Maple Leaves, Love Story of Cai Lanying, the Five Loyal and Righteous Military Officers, Madam Liang and Her Five Sons, Legend of the Jade Arrow, and a fusion of famous excerpts.
