Chaozhou Secondary Vocational School is the only school of its kind under the Municipal Education Bureau's irect supervision. As the school’s key and special program, the Chinese Gastronomy and Nutritional Diet (Specializing in Chaozhou Cuisine) has benefited from the city’s title of Hometown of Chaozhou Cuisine. By cooperating with businesses, top chefs at hotels, local snack masters and inheritors of local specialties have been hired as part-time instructors. The cooperation has realized a target-oriented skills training program for the catering industry. At the end of 2019, Department of Education of Guangdong assessed the major as a provincial-level model program of enterprise and school cooperation. In 2020, to better inherit folk cuisine culture, the School started a new program – Chinese and Western Pastries (Specializing in Chaozhou Snacks). It aims to train more skilled bakers and promote the city’s intangible cultural heritage. Since this February, the School has become a “Guangdong High-level Secondary Vocational School”. Over the past decade, the School has developed as a significant trainer and protector of Chaozhou cuisine, with many of its skilled graduates working locally and across the country. 

To engage in the provincial Cantonese cuisine training program, the School will invest more in discipline development. It has raised five million yuan for the ongoing construction of Chaozhou Cuisine Inheritance and Training Base. Besides formal education, the School will spend more resources in studying local culinary culture and on the inheritance of cooking skills and non-academic training to promote and publicize “the best Chinese cuisine in the world”.
