Chaozhou kung fu tea: the Phoenix Dancong
Publish Time:2023/8/18 15:19:00

The lush Phoenix Mountain, located near China’s southeast coast at a northern latitude of 23.92°, enjoys abundant sunshine and rainfall. The Phoenix Dancong, an Oolong tea cultivated on the Mountain, is described as “the perfume of tea.” Literally, “Dancong” denotes a single tea shrub. The leaves from each tea shrub are picked and processed separately. The floral aftertaste is what sets the tea apart.

In China’s tea culture, the 1,000-year-old Chaozhou kung fu tea is notable. In November 2022, traditional tea processing techniques and their associated social practices in China were added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. As a representation of the Chinese tea ceremony, Chaozhou kung fu tea art played a significant role in the project.
