Dawu clay sculpture, named after Dawu Village in Chaozhou, is among the top three traditional clay sculpture styles in China and listed in the national intangible cultural heritage.
Carving, shaping, kneading, adhering, incising, printing and coloring are all skills needed in the process of creation. Most art pieces are heads or entire figures of opera and drama characters. The art has been around for more than 700 years.
