Chaozhou embroidery, which dates back to the Tang Dynasty, has long been popular in Chaozhou and the neighboring areas. It is a major school of Cantonese embroidery, one of the four major traditional styles of embroidery in China. The embroidered works feature exquisite craftsmanship, rich composition, vivid colors and a sense of depth. The craft was selected as one of the first of China’s national intangible cultural heritage items in 2006.
